About the project
“Praga Through the Lens” is a series of street photography workshops that invited participants to take a closer, more attentive look at Warsaw’s Praga-Północ district and its everyday life. During three sessions held on 8, 15 and 22 July 2026, participants learned the fundamentals of photography, camera operation and a range of photographic techniques. A key part of the programme was a walk through Praga, offering an opportunity to put this knowledge into practice while exploring the district’s architecture and street life through the camera. The following sessions also created space for collective discussion and analysis of the photographs, helping participants develop their own ways of telling stories about the city through images. Workshop leader and photographer Wojtek Biały combined practical exercises with conversations about attentive observation and the interpretation of the surrounding urban environment. The photographs presented in the exhibition reveal Praga from a variety of perspectives, capturing its everyday life, distinctive character and rhythm. Together, they form a record of the district as seen through the eyes of the workshop participants.
Wojtek Biały
Wojtek Biały is a photographer and lecturer with many years of experience in portrait photography and photographic education. His practice places particular emphasis on attentive observation, building a relationship with the person being photographed, and carefully constructing the image. He combines professional experience with a background in psychology, an approach reflected both in his photographic practice and in the way he teaches. During the “Praga Through the Lens” workshops, he introduced participants to the fundamentals of photography, camera operation and a range of photographic techniques, before analysing the results together with the group. His role extended beyond sharing technical knowledge: he also encouraged participants to look at the city more consciously and to develop their own ways of telling its stories through images.
