‘CREATORS’ PROGRAM – PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
On November 28 and 29, 2022, within the framework of the ‘Kreatorzy’ (‘Creators’) project, we held a photography workshop for children and adolescents in refugee crisis. The workshop was organized at the Nizio Gallery, in two age groups (participants 9-12 years old and 13-18 years old) in one 3-hour meeting.
The aim of the workshop was for participants to learn about and put into practice alternative photographic techniques. During the workshop, we experimented together with the SolarFast technique, through which previously prepared photographs would appear on canvas bags. The participants composed their own collage of graphic elements and developed it on fabric, and then took the handmade bags home with them.
The SolarFast technique involves applying a photosensitive photographic emulsion to fabric using carbon paper and transparent film. It is a modern alternative photographic technique that harks back to the beginnings of the history of photography. The technique is completely sustainable and you can replicate it at home and make your own prints!
The workshop was led by Łukasz Gietka, a photographer and university lecturer, and Zuzanna Borucka, a photographer.
The workshop ‘Creators – art workshops for refugee children and adolescents’ was implemented with funding from the budget of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship.
The workshop was held in Polish with simultaneous interpretation into Ukrainian.
