Three magical concerts, two snowy evenings wrapped up the “Laks Survived” Festival, a collaboration fueled by our shared passion with the Association of Polish Chamber Musicians. This time, we delved into the life of Szymon Laks, an exceptional Polish composer who, thanks to his musical genius, defied the odds at Auschwitz, capturing his experiences in the pages of “Games of Auschwitz.”
Our audience experienced Laks’s extraordinary compositions, brought to life by dynamic duos: Bartosz Koziak (cello) and Grzegorz Mania (piano), Magdalena Molendowska (soprano) and Julia Samojło (piano), and Anna Wandtke (violin) paired with Dominika Glapiak (piano).
Beyond Laks’s creations, the program also featured works by Grzegorz Fitelberg, Karol Rathaus, Mieczysław Weinberg, Roman Ryterband, Ignaz Friedman, and Maurice Ravel.
